Exciting Electrons

What is Electricity?

Electricity is a flow of electrons.

Batteries are a store of chemical energy that is converted into electrical energy, i.e. inside batteries, a chemical reaction produces electrons.

All you need to make a battery is an anode and cathode (usually made from 2 different metals) and an electrolyte (a solution which allows the transport of ions).
