Where are Electrons?

Electrons make up an "electron cloud" circling the nucleus of atoms.

You can’t pinpoint the exact position of an electron. Therefore, we can only say that there is a probability of finding an electron in a certain VOLUME -this volume is called an orbital.

There are different kinds of orbitals that have different shapes

A sperical s-orbital (left) and a dumbell shaped p-orbital (right)
