Living in a Material World

Thin Films

The word materials means a lot more to scientists than just fabrics and cloth. In this next section we will look at films - thin coatings or layers of one material on another.

Examples of thin films are silver plated cutlery, brass door knockers, chrome trims on cars, paints and glues.
